At the onset of 2016, the fire chief of the El Cenizo VFD was suspended during a scheduled city council meeting.
Several preparingtexas.org classes in the South Texas Development Council region have been scheduled for April '16. Included that month are CERT program manager, search and rescue in the community, and public information in a disaster courses. Community Involvement and Public Information
This page is dedicated to providing the community with timely and pertinent information regarding fire safety and prevention, community programs sponsored by the station, and as a resource for information on the department. ​

We encourage all members of the community to develop fire safety plans for their households, workplaces, and to be proactive in their safety. The best safety practice is to be prepared; have emergency escape plans for your home, tech your kids to meet at a predetermined meeting place outside your home in case of a fire, use smoke detectors, purchase and regularly maintain a fire extinguisher, keep a document with all pertinent medical and prescription medication information in an easy to reach place in case of illness or injury, and take photos of family members (especially kids) and update them regularly. In the case of a disaster, these last two steps can greatly improve the chances of saving lives and reuniting family members.
